of guides in Sri Lanka operate without a licence — no insurance, no accountability if something goes wrong.
Trincomalee · Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka,
clearly.
Private tours with licensed drivers, prices written down before you pay, and zero commission on anything we recommend.
Where you'll go
Seven stops.
One road trip.
Coast to hill country to coast again. 829 km, about sixteen hours behind the wheel — spread across your days, not endured in one.
Your route
One driver.
One vehicle.
The whole island.
You are met at arrivals and driven the entire way. No handovers, no local taxis, no negotiating at every stop.
When to come
Two monsoons.
One of them is always somewhere else.
Sri Lanka's rain arrives from opposite sides at opposite times of year. When the south-west is wet, our east coast is at its best.
A general guide to the two monsoons. Weather shifts from year to year — tell us your dates and we'll tell you honestly what to expect.
Before anything else
Let's talk about what actually worries you.
is the commission some drivers earn on what you buy at the gem shops and spice gardens they steer you into.
drivers can't survive on that rate. They make it back from your wallet in ways you won't see until you're here.
the invented nightly fee for driver accommodation, sprung on you mid-trip. Along with surprise kilometres and mystery extras.
You've read the stories. They're true.
Here is exactly how we're built so none of it can happen to you.
Our five promises
Not claims.
Things you can check.
Every one of these is a thing you can verify before you pay us anything.

The part nobody else will show you
Follow the money.
There are only two ways a Sri Lankan tour operator makes a living. One of them decides where you sleep, shop and eat.
The usual model
- Your daily rateLow — deliberately
- Hotel commission10–20%
- Gem & spice shop commissionup to 50%
- Restaurant kickbackYes
- "Extras" found mid-tripYes
Cheap on the website. Expensive on the island — and the itinerary is quietly built around who pays them, not what you'd like.

We charge you once, fairly, and earn nothing from where you go. That's the entire trick — and it's why our hotel advice is worth having.
So we don't book your hotel. On purpose.
We'll send you an honest shortlist for every stop — what's genuinely good, what's overpriced, what to avoid and why. You book it yourself, directly, at the real price. We earn nothing either way.

Tours
Three routes, or build your own.
Every tour is private — your family, your driver, your vehicle. Prices depend on dates, group size and vehicle, so we quote you properly instead of posting a number that changes later.

Trincomalee
You've been warned about gem shops in Sri Lanka.
You were right to be warned. The gem-shop commission is the most common way tourists here lose money — a driver takes you somewhere, the price is doubled, and he collects up to half of it.
So here is exactly how ours is built so it can't happen.
- We earn nothing from it. No commission, no cut, no markup. If you buy a stone, our income does not change by one rupee. If you buy nothing, nothing about your tour changes either.
- Certified by a GIA-registered laboratory. Not a shop's own paperwork — an independent grading report from a laboratory registered with the Gemological Institute of America, the standard the world's jewellers actually use.
- You see the report before you pay. Stone, weight, colour, treatment status. In writing. You may take it to any other valuer in Colombo before deciding.
- Proper export documentation. Gems leaving Sri Lanka need the right paperwork. You get it, correctly, so nothing is a problem at the airport.
- No pressure, ever. It's an afternoon watching cutters work and learning what you're looking at. Buying is optional and genuinely treated that way.
The fleet
Our own vehicles. Not a phone number for someone else's.
We don't subcontract your trip to whoever is free that morning. The vehicle that meets you at arrivals is ours, and it stays with you until we drop you back.

Guides
A guide as well? For the whole trip, or at each place.
Your driver gets you everywhere safely and knows the roads. A guide tells you what you're looking at — who built Sigiriya, what happens inside the Temple of the Tooth, which bird that was. Guides are optional, and paid separately from your vehicle and driver.
Option 1
A guide for the whole trip
One guide travels with you from the day you arrive to the day you leave, in your vehicle, and explains as you go — the ancient cities, the temples, the tea country, the food, the history in between.
- The same person every day, who gets to know what you enjoy
- Best for a first visit, or a route full of heritage sites
- Their fee is a line of its own in your quote
Option 2
A local guide at each place
Travel with just your driver, and we arrange a local guide to meet you at the places you choose — Sigiriya, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, the Temple of the Tooth, Galle Fort, Sinharaja — for your visit there. Then you carry on.
- Only where you want one — skip it everywhere else
- Arranged by us before you arrive: no bargaining at the gate
- Each guide's fee listed separately in your quote
- 1Tell usPick an option in the quote form, or ask us which suits your route.
- 2See the fee in writingThe guide's fee is its own line in your quote, separate from the vehicle and driver. Nothing is added on the day.
- 3Meet your guideOn your first day, or at each place you chose — as written in your plan.
We arrange guides licensed by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).

In their words
What our guests say.
From guests we have actually driven. Every review is matched to a real booking before it appears, and we never edit what people write — good or bad.
Questions
What people ask before they book.
Do you book our hotels?
No — on purpose. We take no commission from hotels, so instead we send you an honest shortlist for every stop: what's genuinely good, what's overpriced, what to avoid. You book directly, at the real price.
Are your drivers licensed and insured?
Yes. We are a registered Sri Lankan business, our drivers are licensed, and every vehicle carries full passenger insurance. Before you pay anything, you receive your driver's name, photo, languages and licence.
How do your prices work?
We quote each trip in writing, with everything that's included listed before you pay — no "bata", no surprise kilometres, no airport markup. Prices depend on your dates, group size and vehicle, which is why we quote rather than post a number.
Can you pick us up from the airport?
Yes. We meet you at arrivals at Bandaranaike International Airport, and the same driver and vehicle stay with you for the whole trip.
Do you do one-way transfers?
Yes — Trincomalee to anywhere, and anywhere to Trincomalee, airport runs included, with the same licensed drivers and a fixed, written price.
When is the best time to visit Sri Lanka?
It depends on the coast. The south-west monsoon (roughly May to September) brings rain to the west and south while the east coast has its best weather; the north-east monsoon (roughly November to February) does the reverse. See When to come, or tell us your dates and we'll tell you honestly what to expect.
Is the gem experience safe?
We take no commission on anything you buy. Every stone we show you comes with an independent report from a GIA-registered laboratory before you decide, and buying is entirely optional.
What vehicles do you use?
Our own: Toyota KDH high-roof vans for 6–9 guests, and sedans or compact cars for 2–3 — all air-conditioned, all with full passenger insurance. We don't subcontract your trip.
Can we have a guide as well as the driver?
Yes, two ways — both optional and paid separately from the vehicle and driver. A guide can travel with you for the whole trip, or we can arrange a local guide to meet you only at the places you choose, such as Sigiriya, the Temple of the Tooth or Galle Fort. Each guide's fee is its own line in your written quote. See Guides.
Can we change the route?
Yes. Every tour is private, so it can be shaped around you. Tell us how many days you have and what you're into, and we'll draft a route — no obligation, no deposit to see it.
